Dang! I missed it!
So many times, we wait to buy a stock because we want more proof that it is going up. And so many times, we lose track of the stock, and when we check back to see how it's doing, we find out that the stock broke out without us on board. At that point, we usually figure it's too late to buy since we missed the big move. We're left scratching our heads, and saying, Dang!, I missed it!
This scenario happens a lot, and it's usually just a matter of focus. Setting price or indicator alerts can help you stay on top of a stock's progress while you wait to buy it. You can also set a buy stop (limit) order that is GTC (good 'til cancelled), but then you have to pay attention to the order. Make sure you're set up to receive an email or text when an order is executed.
Here's a stock pick that you can try not to miss. At only $9, it has the potential to be a long-term hold. E-Commerce China DangDang (DANG) is an online business-to-customer e-commerce company that sells educational materials (books, DVDs, and periodicals) and a host of other merchandise (beauty, luggage, electronics, children's, etc). The IPO stock was released in 2011 at around $36, and it hit a low of $3 in 2012. It is now forming a cup pattern after having successfully tested the 50 day EMA. The breakout of a cup would be above the prior intermediate-term high (left side of cup) at $12.00 or on a new short-term high (if the pattern forms a handle).
There's plenty of time to find a good entry with DANG. So set your alerts! I don't want to hear anyone say, DANG! I missed it!
(Note: IPOs are higher risk trades, so manage risk accordingly.)
